10 years ago, Mercedes thought of buying some shares from Tesla - 10% - just enough to get Tesla out of the graveyard. Nice job Mercedes! You helped out the no 1 electric car manufacturer.

In 2014, Mercedes sold the Tesla shares for nearly $800 million. In this time, Mercedes and Tesla worked on integrating for the first time an electric battery pack - made by Tesla of course - on the Smart model.
You had the chance, at that time, to own one exclusive model of electric Smart :) - one in a thousand, not in a million, like the song :)
My guess is they did not really believe in the future of e-cars and nowadays they got passed in US Sales Rankings by guess who - yes, Tesla - overcame Mercedes in the US during Q3.
Since 2016, Mercedes repeatedly said that they were very happy with the collaboration with Tesla and that they would do it again, but nothing happened since :). They are crying for help when coming to electric vehicles but still, they are Mercedes! On the other hand, Mercedes and Tesla are direct competitors in the car market.
They do well in sales, they are working on the EQC, they have great expectations from this model, basically, they are great from a business point of view.
Still, this model is no match for any Tesla model at this point. And CEO of German Carmaker Daimler Ag and head of Mercedes Benz Cars DIETER ZETSCHE recognize it!!!
Yes, I know, there a few of you that would not trade a Mercedes S-class for anything in the world, but I ask you this: Is it Mercedes better than Tesla? Or the other way around?:)
They are both cars. They do the same thing. They have models that are very expensive and models that are affordable. They both can be your daily driver.
What are the differences though? One runs on petrol and kills the SUN, the other one charges from the SUN and it is crazy fast .....
The Merc will get you from A to B in the best leather seats ever, it will be your guardian angel if you crash and it will make you look business like. Tesla will get you from A to B in silence, will get you there autonomous, will get you there with zero expenses - I wrote about this here :)
It is all about the preferences you have when it comes to choosing between the two models!
I believe I will modify the title of this article in TESLA & MERCEDES = LOVE!
